Absolutely Fabulous! I cannot say enough about Shorty and her amazing work with my 7-year-old daughter. From the moment we walked in, we felt so comfo...rtable and welcome. Shorty was incredibly patient and fast, making sure my daughter felt at ease throughout the entire process. The braids were perfect! It was exactly what we asked for. Ok, so I feel some kind of way because my review will be way longer than most lol; but I'm going to describe as should be. First off, I met Shauntavia... aka Shorty via Facebook almost two years ago not long after I broke up with my previous loctitian. I saw her work and inboxed her to get pricing; it was good, but I didn't act on it until almost two years (currently) when I was on messenger looking for something totally unrelated. So, I reached out because it was time to trust again and my locs were falling out one by one. So it was either get my head together or cut my locs and I'm not ready for all of that. So Shorty was the one. I reached out and she was on it. I told her what she was going to be working with, and even though she stated the obvious (my head was a mess), we laughed about it and I felt comfortable enough with her energy to give her a shot. Glad I did. First off, she gave me a first-time customer discount, which was cool because I was investing a a good amount of money (understandably so). She has a very nice shop which she shares with her God-sister and I am happy the vision they are working hard to make come reality. Any time black women choose to come together to work something together, I'm all for it! So we talked a bit while she let her her assistant get my hair started (the detox process). I respect the boss in shorty and empowering young people to work with their hands; I do wish Shorty was the one who washed/massaged/conditioned my hair because I just like expert hands. It is what it is. Her assistant will do well as she gets more personable and pays attention to the details. Nevertheless, Shorty got to working on my head, and she is a little woman that packs a strong hand, lol. Not painful at all, but it's got to get done and that's what that is. I did tell her she didn't have to pull my hair too tight, and I appreciate her listening. Again, my grid was gone, and she had work to do. I did realize she uses a crochet hook as opposed to a yarn needle (which I have been accustomed to for the last 8-10 years), so it did make a difference on the experience. But, I respect the cosmetologist because everyone has their thing. With that said, when Shorty was done with me, my head did not feel as tight as was expecting and she gave me a lovely gift with her hair oil (which smells awesome and I'm glad for it btw because my hair has thinned out a lot especially at the top) and said I can come back in a week to get my complimentary style because my scalp wasn't feeling anything pulled up at that point. I am pleased with the results; and the mission was accomplished  - oh, and Shorty didn't have to cut any locs like she thought she may had to do (again, my head was a mess) - she found a work around. This lady not only loves what she does, she is knowledgable in hair health; Shorty said we're loc'd in :-), and hopefully she will be my loctitian for a good while until I figure out my next best move. She has a beautiful shop with a great vision for the beauty/hair/entertainment industry and she is definitely worth a visit!  P.S. this pics below are a week AFTER getting my hair freshly done, and I'm happy with the look. I didn't take any pics immediately after (Shorty did tho 😊). I also attached a 'before' pic to show the progress made! Show more
