Deep conditioner/Moisture retention treatment

I’ve been thinking about leaving a review since I went in for my appointment & finally decided to go ahead and do it. I initially went in for a consul...tation which I admit was unconfirmed, but I wasn’t used to the booking system & offered to reschedule. Jazz was able to still go ahead and meet with me & my 3 year old daughter who this appointment was predominantly for. I asked about my daughter’s hair & we discussed what we would do as far as a wash, condition, oil/moisture treatment, trim, & twisting her hair. At no point during this consultation did she tell me that she generally does not work with children. I bring my daughter in later that week & felt as though Jazz was frazzled from the start. I could be wrong but just felt as though she was uncomfortable with the situation or had something else to do. She washed & conditioned her hair, I had to ask about a moisture treatment before she decided to throw something in and let her sit for 10 minutes. We moved to the trim/style portion. There was no prep before she tried to detangle and just tried to comb a 3 year olds hair and expected her not to be uncomfortable. Even then she didn’t jerk her head away or try to run away, but it was at that time that she let me know she wouldn’t be able to move forward & that she usually “vets” the children she works with. I allowed her to trim her hair wet which I wasn’t a fan of but I should have spoken up instead of just allowing her to do it because I figured she was the professional, but wish more guidance or information was given about it. If you do not work with children I think the appropriate thing to do would have been to let me know that at my consultation which I paid for and got no guidance to the appropriate stylist or suggestions at all instead of waiting until we’re at an appointment where now we’re all tense because you’re not prepared to deal with a child who may be just as uncomfortable (since it was her first time in a salon) as you are in dealing with an adult who doesn’t work with children. I hope this helps someone in the future, because I have since gotten my daughter’s hair done from someone who was understanding of the fact that she is a child & my daughter sat there comfortable/patiently. Hey Jazz, I have to disagree. Maybe from station to station she acted “silly” or excitable and once you said she was unable to have the iPad or eat her snack that’s when she was antsy and had the reaction to move around. Even when I had my laptop (for a very short period of time at that) I was involved & watched everything going on so please do not insinuate that you had to tell her anything that I hadn’t already said to her. Speak with Ari about me mentioning that my daughter would be with me for the consultation, so I forced nothing, especially since I asked if I should reschedule. Which you said no to. Children kick, & move. Again if you don’t generally work with children you should have told me that at the consultation. Also I did decide not to change the style because you had already said you weren’t styling her. Why would I change the style when you’ve told me you won’t style it, & that you’re not on the booking site as a children’s stylist? I’m sorry that you were not happy about your service, but I did do everything the proper way as well as was very gentle and kind with your child. I was not frazzled or “had anything else to do”, which I feel is very unfair for you to say. I took my time and provided her with a service that she could sit for at that time. While you were busy trying to figure out your work/ computer situation, I had to ask her to please stay still, please quiet down (we both noticed random loud outbursts), & not to swinging legs/kick/etc SEVERAL TIMES. It did seem like she was very antsy-movement filled that day, that’s why I asked if she had a nap or if she needed one. That’s also why I decided to not perform the services on her (besides the deep conditioning & trim), due to her being seemingly tired or already antsy. I gave you several pointers on what to do with her hair, how to keep her edges in tact, also asked you if we can come up with another solution/style for the day and you basically said no. This is why I am very confused to hear you say I didn’t take the time, give you solutions, or give the best service I possibly could with a child who was honestly disturbing the whole salon with her random outburst, crying, and constantly moving. I honestly felt I did good with her, especially considering the fact that she did not act like that at all during your initial consultation. Glad you found someone else to accommodate you two. Hi Teonna, It’s very unfortunate that your perceived experience was unsatisfactory . However, you mentioned the gel used, left a white/cakey residue on your hair but you didn’t sit under the dryer long enough(I asked you if you wanted to sit longer because it’s wet) you said “no, I don’t like the dryer” which is why your hair looks flakey. Upon arriving you received a really great shampoo & conditioning service which you admittedly enjoyed . And due to months of new growth I cleaned and restructured your parts after explained to me that your normal routine is to wait 6 months in between maintenances. Because of the above mentioned details your maintenance would cost more than a $100. The time of the service is not calculated in price, instead how much work was needed. Because I’m accustomed to servicing Sisterlocs/micro locs my speed is quicker with standard locs. Every price listed is a starting price. I did not blame you for my lack of communication during your service instead I apologized for any confusion. Just my opinion, 1 star is pretty brutal considering your hair looks amazing and hasn’t been damaged. I think the 1 star isn’t for my service but misunderstanding of pricing.
