After seeing all the positive reviews on Google and Facebook, I decided to visit this shop. I arrived about 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment ...time and checked in. You notice all the animal trophies hanging on the walls. You might think you walked into a hunting club instead of a barber shop. LOL I did not get into the chair until about 15 min AFTER my appt time. Shortly after, I found out there was a barber standing around watching the other 2 work. Evidently that barber did not have any clients scheduled. Maybe they could have asked the customers that are waiting if it was ok for that barber to work with them? This way the barber is busy and clients are not having to wait past their scheduled time to get in the chair. I understand some clients have specific preferences for a barber, but they could at least be checking with them. My experience with the haircut was very positive but for a few minor things I will point out. I was in the chair almost the full 30 minutes versus other shops that have you out in 15. The barber took the time to make the cut "just right" and I appreciate that. Now for the negatives. The worst one is the barber sounded all stuffed up and I am not sure if it was allergies or some illness like a cold, flu, etc. No mask was worn so I am hoping it was not an illness as I sure do not want to be coming down with anything with the holiday being 2 days away!! I have to take a star off for this just because of the lack of mask wearing. The other negative is they use an electric razor on the nape and sides instead of a straight razor. For how many times the electric razor was passed over the same area, it would have been just as quick to use a straight razor and get better results. I noticed some stubble that was left on the sides after getting home which I needed to remove. If you book a "Gold" haircut service, then they include the straight razor on nape and sides. This comes at an additional cost of course. Some other shops I have been to include this as part of the normal haircut at no extra cost. Also noticed the barbers did not do any "small talk" with the clients while I was there. Just the usual "Hi, how are you?" and "What are we doing today?" type stuff. This could be a positive for some or a negative for others. I prefer at least a little chit-chat from the barber which makes the experience more engaging and friendly. Price is slightly higher than expected but they take their time so I guess it is ok. In summary, a good experience overall and I plan to go back for the "Gold" service and see if it is worth the extra cost. Show more

Come for the haircut, stay for the sage advice. Mike and his staff are excellent barbers. However, it’s their personalities that shine while you sit i...n their chairs. I don’t think I stop conversing until I walk out the front door. It’s an enjoyable and relaxing hour or so while I’m there. Ever have a hot straight razor shave? Mike’s skill with a razor is almost as good as his sense of humor. The atmosphere of the shop is special. Changing with each season. I’d also like to mention how supportive of the surrounding community they all are. Fundraising, events for local organizations and just all around good citizens of historic downtown Jessup.
