I'm not sure where to begin! Let's start with right when I walked in that I felt immediately comfortable and the energy was very relaxing. Easy going ...conversations about all kinds of topics! Jay set up the tattoo chair to where i was comfortable and just the whole process was very professional and easy going. Jay has a light hand and crisp lines, the tattoo work (colors, lines, details, highlights) was incredible. I am so appreciative and thankful for my experience and absolutely cannot wait to return! Lucy is absolutely amazing! I moved out of Spokane and still travel back to get work done by her. She has 18+ years of experience, is so talented, and... is NOT heavy handed (as seen in another review.) I’ve had her finish a previous piece for me (peacock in pictures below) and she has done a few custom pieces for me (zz plant and mandala which is in progress.) Every piece she’s done on me has come out better than I expected. She charges very fairly and I never feel like I’m being taken advantage of. The shop is cute and cozy and I always feel comfortable when I’m getting tattooed! Lucy had to reschedule my appointment once due to the power being out which is perfectly understandable. She let me know as soon as possible in the morning and got me rescheduled immediately. Very professional! Can’t wait to get more work done by her 🤩 Show more

I had a pressing need to get a very old tattoo of my youth covered up, as it just didn’t fit with the woman I am today and it’s visibility made me fee...l too masculine and connected to the past. I have heard great things about Lucy and J @ Black Bee Tattoo from the local LGBTQ+ community and decided to book a consult to see what she could help me with. I got all set, set the phone GPS and set out on my way. I got to where the GPS says to go and couldn’t locate the place, the GPS took me to the parking lot below and to the west. The real location is up the ramp and next door to Ross in the Sola Salon. I had to call Lucy to get directions, It was confusing. Just a heads up. Once I got into the shop, a few minutes late, Lucy was understanding and 101% awesome. She sat me down and we looked at what I had to work with to cover up, she took pics of the original ancient art and we discussed that wants I had for the piece to be done. I wanted a Rose to honor my Mother’s memory and as an affirmation of me as well. Lucy designed a wonderful pink Queen Elizabeth Rose with lots of foliage to do that. I paid my deposit, which is applied to the final cost and then I left feeling very good about my next visit. which I quickly booked. While I was there I also rediscovered the wonderful SlickRock Burrito right across Grand Blvd. Just as good I as I remembered from many years ago when I lived nearby. Highly recommend the Veggie Thai. Two weeks later I met Lucy again, this time with the wonderful J for a planned 3 hour session. I was nervous as I haven’t had a tattoo in 31 years. The whole atmosphere and vibe of the place and Lucy’s steady assurances set me at ease. Very quickly we saw the final design and Lucy got all the colors mixed and we got down to business. It was just amazing to watch her work her magical talent. Lucy and J are also great to be around, so that really made it a great experience. Watching the design go from a stencil of a bunch of lines laid over the old Fighting Irish logo, to gradually become something different, all the while with Lucy keeping me well assured of the process, explaining it all, just doing a great job. After a couple of hours it really came together, that old memory was nearly forgotten. As the new design came to fruition under Lucy’s steady hand it was like feeling my own transformation being illustrated right there in ink. Those last details of shadow and highlight and color, filled me with joy to see that new beautiful part of me displayed. After she was satisfied with her work Lucy took photos and video and showed them to me and it was such a beautiful thing I got misty eyed right there. Lucy went over the aftercare with me and dressed it in the second-skin clear bandage. That night I looked over the pics she sent me and I did cry, it’s that meaningful and beautiful to me. After 5 weeks of healing and sunscreen and moisturizing, I went in for the included touch up appointment. Lucy was once again 101% and awesome in every way including her drop dead gorgeous black high-low dress with those wonderful Mary-Janes. Lucy’s fashion sense is impeccable BTW. She checked out the healing and where it would need a little more ink here and there. We'd discussed the final stage earlier, a little bit of outline reinforcing, then some additions to the white highlighting, followed by some more blue ambiance work then a few additions to the main pink rose and it was done. Once again Lucy kept me feeling great and informed as she worked the magic. Her touch is so light, steady that it's an easy experience. All in all the experience of getting this new art on me was incredibly beautiful, amazingly positive, wonderfully affirming and one of the best things I’ve done in my personal journey of transformation. I recommend Black Bee Tattoo, Lucy and J as highly as I can. I’m going back in a few weeks for a consult on another smaller cover-up and this one is just as exciting, actually perhaps more. Show more
