I really enjoyed the conversation with Monnie. She was gracious and easy to converse with. Especially since I was about 20 minutes late. But unfortuna...tely, I was burned a few times during the service and I have a burned mark on my ear as a result. And when I received the flat iron portion of the service I did hear the sizzling of my hair in the back which indicated that my hair wasn’t throughly dry after the blow dry portion so my hair was being fried a little. But i did only notice this in the back, it wasn’t the whole head. It could have just been an off day but I personally just didn’t have a great experience especially being a first time customer with the blow dry and flat iron portion. I do like that she isn’t scissor happy. Update: after reviewing the reply from owner. I do strongly support Black owned businesses, however, I did not communicate my experience directly to the owner the day of because I tried to be positive about my experience afterwards but due getting burned a few times. I felt it was more than justified to write a review. After writing my initial review the owner message me about it and asked for photos of my burned mark on my ear and then she further explained the sizzling remark I made and how it was the serum. And then she mentioned her about the 20 minutes I mentioned and her late policy via text and how she would have like to see that she waived her fee. I literally began my review with her being gracious and easy to converse with especially after being 20 minutes late. I made it a point to include that because she was very professional, and kind about my tardiness. Her policy states after 20 mins there will be a 15 dollar charge. I entered her salon at exactly 20 mins after my scheduled appointment which is why I assumed I didn’t get charged not that it was being waived. Even when I sent her a picture of the burn mark on my ear there was no sympathy or further communication about that. I didn’t know that working on my computer would have been an interruption to my service, I was only responding to emails and checking my work. I didn’t take phone calls or did anything that required my head to be moved constantly that would interfere with my service. I took selfies of myself in the salon because I was killing time waiting for my ride and I liked the style, and I felt cute. I never said I didn’t like the style the points that I was highlighting was being burned and the times I heard my hair sizzling. Even after writing with my review I was met with lack of accountability and defensiveness from the owner. Then I was told that she didn’t want my business further but would recommend me to local salons. I didn’t write this review to bash her and her company. I’m writing about MY experience. I do understand her preferring me to vocalize my concerns about my hair being fried, and that’s something I personally have to work on as a person I just hate confrontation so it’s not easy for me to always speak up about things. But honestly after the text messages, and her response and overall experience with my hair I really wouldn’t support this business if she allowed me to be a returning client. I initially loved her personality - I thought she was amazing when I was getting my silk press, and hence the reason didn’t write my review right away because I was conflicted, but now I’m really glad I did. I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to service you and I wish you well in life ☮️ Hi Rahil, I really wish we could have addressed this at your appointment. I work very hard to ensure my clients are extremely satisfied. I was under the impression you were. Hits the multiple selfies you took in my salon. Nonetheless I try to allow my clients the opportunity to work during their service, however it’s not always ideal when silk press, which is why i waived the late fee. I assure you your hair was completely dry, i used a serum coat the hair so if you heard sizzling that’s what it was. Considering your last salon visit was over a year ago your hair was in great shape. So excessive trimming wasn’t necessary. I hope that you can understand the importance of communication this would have avoided you from this experience.
